What is sinusitis, symptoms and how to treat it
Depending on many factors, the type of the disease, the patient’s condition, the characteristics of the nose, the severity of the disease, sinusitis can be treated in several ways:
“Cuckoo” or the Prototts method is one of the methods of traditional nasal washing. The fluid, which consists of treating drugs, moves from the sinus to the sinus, cleansing them of pus. To prevent the liquid from entering the respiratory tract, the patient must say “cucko” during the procedure. Treatment requires up to 8 procedures.
“Cuckoo” is prescribed only in the initial stages of the disease. With swelling of the nose, this method is contraindicated. It can also be combined with antibiotics for quick recovery.
With the help of a sinus catheter, purulent accumulations are removed when alternating negative and positive pressure inside the nose.Air is injected into the nose, the nostrils are swollen, after pus is pumped out with a syringe and medicine is injected. Also, this method is good because the medicine falls directly into the sinuses.
The duration of treatment is 10 procedures.
If the functions of the nasal sinuses are impaired and there is no possibility to inject the solution through the nose, a puncture is done - the maxillary sinus is punctured, the pus is removed, and medicine is injected into the sinuses. This method allows you to quickly remove pus and if conventional methods or antibiotics do not help (this is usually done at a chronic stage). The patient needs to undergo several procedures.
Sometimes a catheter is placed at the puncture site in order not to make a second puncture. Despite the anesthesia, the procedure is quite painful.
