Today Khrushchev exposed Stalin.
February 25, 1956, exactly 62 years ago, the famous XX Congress of the CPSU ended, at which Nikita Khrushchev exposed Stalin and debunked the cult of his personality. The transcript of the congress was not conducted, and we only know the details of the speech from the words of those who were present there.
According to eyewitnesses, there was a dead silence while reading the report, and after the end of Khrushchev's speech, there was no debate. Overnight, the erected concept of the leading role of Stalin in all spheres of life collapsedgreat astronomer and linguistimmediately ceased to be considered as such. Almost immediately, great changes began in the life of the USSR — many political prisoners were released and rehabilitated, censorship was abolished in many areas of life, anonymous informing was condemned, relative freedom of movement around the country appeared, and even the opportunity to travel abroad.
A few months after the debunking of the personality cult, the anti-Stalinist flared up.uprising in Hungary- on the title photo in the post you can see the fallen monument to Stalin in Budapest - he was dropped by the very people on whose behalf this monument as a “gift to Stalin” was erected several months ago by Hungarian Stalinists.
