Scabies- This is a contagious disease that occurs when entering into the skin scabies mite and proceeds with severe itching (especially at night) and skin lesions caused by the formation of pathogens.
The itch mite is oval-shaped, measuring 0.2-0.4 mm in length and 0.14-0.35 mm in width. Larvae and males live on the surface of the skin. The female, having pierced the horny layer of the skin, makes a stroke parallel to the surface of the skin where she lays eggs. Tick larvae come to the surface of the skin, where they turn into scabby itchiness. The full development cycle takes about 2 weeks, the larvae in the egg stay for up to 3 days.
Itch mite tolerates low temperatures, is resistant to most chlorine-containing disinfectants. at temperatures of 1000C and above, he dies within 5 to 10 minutes. Infection with scabies occurs as a result of direct everyday contact with the patient: through his bedding or underwear, a towel, as well as during sexual intercourse. Washcloths and brooms should be considered as one of the factors of scabies infection when washing in baths. In rare cases, scabies can be transmitted through handshakes; children can become infected through toys. The incubation period is 7 - 10 days.
The disease is characterized by severe itching, which is aggravated in the evening and at night, rash on the skin of small paired papulo-vesicular elements, quickly combed by patients, with the formation of punctate blood crusts or linear brushes.
A characteristic sign of scabies - scabby moves. At the site of the introduction of the female mite, a bubble appears with a transparent content of no more than millet grain. Laying eggs, the female mite forms a scabies course, projected onto the skin surface in the form of a thin strip of grayish color from a few millimeters to 1 cm in length. At the end of the scabies stroke, there is a vial in which the female is located. Manneles are most often found on the skin of the hands, especially on the lateral surfaces of the fingers and in the interdigital folds, on the anterior region of the wrist, on the penis. Less often, scabby moves are observed on the skin of the abdomen, buttocks, on the inner surfaces of the upper and lower extremities. In adults, the skin of the face, neck, interblade area, axillary pits, palms, soles is not affected. In children, itch elements can be located on the palms, soles, face.
Scabies treatment
Scabies on their own never pass, and therefore require treatment with special skin remedies. This disease is successfully treated within 4-5 days. Now there are a lot of very effective drugs that are used only 1-2 times, depending on the degree of infection and the brand of the product itself. If scabies is found in one of the family members, it is also advisable for the rest to be examined by a dermatologist, or better simply to undergo a course of treatment.
The most important thing in the treatment of scabies is to carry out the most complete disinfection of your home with special means and to warn all your friends who could catch this disease. All clothes are boiled, children's toys and things that cannot be washed are packed in tight plastic bags without air access and, if possible, are taken out for several days in the cold.
